recipes for homemade cleaning products that really work

In today’s post I’m sharing my favourite all natural, homemade cleaning solution for:

  • all purpose cleaner
  • shower cleaner
  • glass cleaner
  • disinfecting spray
  • sink scrub
  • stickers stains remover

ALL PURPOSE CLEANER (FOR THE KITCHEN AND THE BATHROOM)

This all purpose cleaner recipe is super quick and easy to put together.

You will need:

  • a 250ml glass spray bottle;
  • distilled or cooled, boiled water;
  • 2 Tbs of Doterra On Guard Cleaner Concentrate;
  • 10 drops of Essential Oils of your choice.

In the spray bottle, add the Essential Oils and the Cleaner Concentrate. Top with water. Shake well to mix, and before each use. Rinse well after spraying on any surface. Discard after 2 weeks max.

This DIY all purpose cleaner is super powerful and will cut through dirt and grease with no effort at all.

This is the homemade cleaner product that I use every day in my home. I use it in my kitchen, to clean the toilets and bathrooms, and practically on every surface that needs cleaning!

SHOWER CLEANER

Let’s face it: showers can be very dirty areas of our homes. With 5 people in my house showering daily, the shower tray needs a good scrub very often. Not a job that I look forward to if I’m honest.

Sometimes my homemade all purpose cleaner is not powerful enough to clean the shower. With this in mind, I came up with a DIY shower cleaner recipe that helps me to get rid of soap scum naturally, and to clear mould build up when it appears.

This homemade shower cleaner is amazing! It will do all the hard work for you. As a result, you will have more time for the more important things in life!

HOMEMADE SHOWER CLEANER RECIPE

You will need:

  • a 250ml glass spray bottle;
  • half cup of Sal Suds (or dishwashing liquid soap);
  • 1 and a half cup of distilled white vinegar;
  • 25-30 drops of Essential Oils of your choice.

Mix all ingredients in the bottle and shake well to mix, and before each use.

To use, simply spray around the shower tray and on the shower walls. Let it sit for an hour (or more if the area is particularly dirty) before rinsing well. More than one application might be needed if the build up of soap scum and/or mould is large.

Make sure to rinse the area thoroughly before stepping into the shower, as the surface will be soapy and slippery!

HOMEMADE GLASS CLEANER

This is my favourite recipe for glass cleaner.

Glass cleaning is such a boring and never ending job, especially when you live with small people who love to have their little hands all over the windows and mirrors.

I discovered long ago that nothing beats vinegar when it comes to a glass cleaner DIY recipe.

How to make glass cleaner with vinegar

To make this glass cleaning solution, you only need:

  • 250ml glass spray bottle;
  • distilled white vinegar;
  • 5 drops of Lemon EO.

Just mix all ingredients in the bottle and shake well to mix, and before each use.

Many people like to dilute this mix with some distilled, or cooled, boiled water, but I don’t. I only use vinegar in the recipe as I find it doesn’t leave any streak or mark on the glass.

I use this homemade glass cleaner every time I feel my windows need cleaning. It’s super fast and super effective.

DISINFECTING SPRAY

Now more than ever it seems relevant to have a good recipe for a homemade disinfecting spray.

Therefore, I came up with this all natural essential everyday disinfecting spray.

Diy disinfecting spray

In a glass spray bottle, add:

  • half a cup each of distilled (or cooled, boiled water) and of distilled white vinegar;
  • 20 drops of Doterra On Guard

Put all ingredients in the bottle and shake well to mix and before each use.

You can use this homemade disinfecting spray on every surface that needs attention (kitchen counters, microwave oven, fridge, rubbish bins, etc). Discard after a week max.

SINK SCRUB

This homemade sink cleaner can be used daily as a way to keep your kitchen sink clean and sparkly.

You can make up a large batch of it and use it as needed.

SINK SCRUB RECIPE

Fill a glass jar with bicarbonate of soda (I use a mason jar with a capacity of around half a litre). Add 25-30 drops of Essential Oils of your choice. Mix till all ingredients are well combined.

To use, simply sprinkle on empty sink. Add a squirt of dish soap (or sal suds if you have them) and scrub well.

Rinse thoroughly.

I love to use Lemon, Lime, Eucalyptus or Rosemary Essential Oil for this recipe, but you can choose whatever Oil you prefer.

HOW TO REMOVE STICKER STAINS

Do you struggle with how to remove sticker stains from glass, doors or walls?

I have a simple and clever tip for you!

Grab a cotton disk or cotton ball, and put a couple of drops of Lemon Essential Oil on it.

To remove the sticker stains, simply rub the cotton on the surface, and watch as the stains magically disappear!

Clever, isn’t it?

If you are planning on making any DIY product using Essential Oils, make sure you know what containers are safe for use. Read my post here to learn how to choose safely.

CONCLUSIONS
